2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse
The original Eclipse was known for being a rocket on the road. Despite the swoopy and aggressive styling, the Eclipse is no longer the fastest car in the Mitsubishi lineup. That title belongs to the frumpy Lancer Evolution. The Eclipse looks the part of a sports coupe with racy lines and a hot palette of colors. Two models are offered: the GS which is powered by a 162 hp 4-cylinder and the GT which is powered by Mitsubishi's 265hp 3.8L V6. The 2012 model year is the last for the Eclipse.
2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Mitsubishi has offered a convertible version of the Eclipse since the nineties. The latest model has seating for four, but the rear seat is more of a bench. The power-operated convertible soft top is fully lined for reduced noise and improved insulation. Two models are offered: the GS which is powered by a 162-bhp 4-cylinder and the GT which is powered by Mitsubishi's 265-bhp 3.8L V6. The 2012 model year is the last for the Eclipse.
2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor
The Mitsubishi Endeavor was one of the first SUVs to be based on a car platform. The Endeavor is a distinctively styled SUV. A torquey 3.8L V-6 provides excellent low speed acceleration, although the 4-speed automatic could use another gear. An all-independent suspension ensures a comfortable on-road ride. Mitsubishi makes no claims for off-road capability for the Endeavor. All Endeavors are well-equipped, with a choice of FWD or AWD models. The 2011 Model Year is likely the last for the Endeavor.
2012 Mitsubishi Galant
The long-running Mitsubishi Galant is a front-wheel-drive, mid-sized sedan with seating for five. The Galant is offered in a streamlined lineup of just two trim levels. The basic ES has steel wheels and cloth seats, but includes power windows/door locks/mirrors and remote keyless entry. The SE model is significantly better equipped with alloy wheels, dvd navigation system, sunroof and a navigation system. A 2.4l four-cylinder engine is the sole available powertrain. Fuel economy is respectable at 21/30 considering the Galants antiquated 4-speed automatic. Last redesigned in 2004, the Galant is one of the oldest designs on the market.
2012 Mitsubishi i
The Mitsubishi i aims to be one of the first widely available electric cars that's also affordable. The i has seating for four passengers in a body that is about the same size as a Mini Cooper. The i is much smaller than the Leaf or Volt, but is available at a substantially lower price than either vehicle. A 49kW AC synchronous motor mounted in the rear of the vehicle drives the rear wheels. According to the EPA, the driving range is about 62 miles on a full charge. An in-vehicle charger can plug in to any 120V AC outlet and recharge the batteries in about 22 hours. Most owners will want a dedicated 240V charger which shortens the time to just 7 hours. An optional DC quick charge port connects to publicly available chargers which can provide an 80% charge in 30 min. The number of electric cars on the market is rapidly expanding. The Mitsubishi might be the most cost effective way to become an early adopter.
2012 Mitsubishi Lancer
The Lancer is Mitsubishi's entry-level model and their answer to the Honda Civic, Mazda Mazda3, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Corolla. The latest generation of the Lancer debuted in 2008 as a 2009 model with larger proportions and more aggressive styling. Thanks to the Lancer Evolution, all Lancers are solidly constructed cars with a more substantial feel than the Japanese competition. A 148-bhp 2.0L inline-4 powers the DE and ES models, whereas the SE and GT equip the upgraded 2.4L engine. All-wheel-drive is offered on the SE model. The GT includes 18-inch wheels, front air dam, rear spoiler, sport suspension, and bigger disc brakes. A Lancer Ralliart model bridges the gap between the Lancer and the Lancer Evolution. With a 237-bhp turbo and all-wheel-drive, the Ralliart is an alternative to the Subaru Impreza WRX but at a stiff price premium. An optional 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system includes nine speakers and a subwoofer.
2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution delighted automotive enthusiasts when it finally arrived in the United States as a 2003 model. The second generation of this rally-bred street monster packs a 291-bhp turbocharged and intercooled engine in to a car with looks more befitting a $30,000 price tag. New driveline technologies make the day-to-day driving experience as rewarding as it is when your foot is pressed hard to the floor. The Lancer Evolution offers two trim levels: GSR and MR. MR models offer a dual-clutch automated manual transmission with paddle shifters. The fully independent suspension features struts in front and a multi-link suspension in back. Both GSR and MR models wear 18-inch wheels shod with 245/40R18 tires.
2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback
The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is a 5-door variant of the Lancer sedan that replaces the trunk with a small hatchback. The Lancer Sportback is Mitsubishi's answer to the Mazda Mazda3 5d, Subaru Impreza wagon, and Toyota Corolla Matrix. Thanks to the Lancer Evolution, all Lancers are solidly constructed cars with a more substantial feel than the Japanese competition. The base model equips a 2.0l four cylinder. The GT has an upgraded 2.4L engine and 18-inch wheels.
2012 Mitsubishi Outlander
The Outlander is a smaller crossover SUV with optional seating for 7. Similar in size to the Toyota RAV4, the Outlander is also offered in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrains with four-cylinder and V6 engines. The model range consists of the ES and SE models which are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and the GT which equips a 3.0l V6. Both engines are underpowered compared to other vehicles in the segment. Fuel efficiency in most configurations is competitive with the Toyota, but fall short of the class leaders. The interior is large and offers good legroom in the first two rows and exceptional cargo capacity. The optional third row seat (SE, GT) in the Outlander is a flat compact bench seat that seats two. Even though the seat is somewhat lacking for padding and comfort, it completely stows out of the way and doesn't rob the cargo area of any storage space. It's a good compromise for occasional use. From the SE trim level up, the Outlander is well-equipped and priced competitively.
2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a small entry-level crossover. The Outlander Sport is a shorter version of the Outlander SUV paired with Mitsubishi's smaller 2.0l four cylinder engine. Mitsubishi offers the Outlander Sport in both FWD and AWD models with a CVT transmission standard on all but the base model. Offered in just two trim levels, the Outlander Sport is priced from $19,000 for the ES model to over $23,000 for an AWD SE model. The SE is well equipped with HID lights, alloy wheels and heated cloth seats. At that price, the Outlander Sport faces fierce competition from established best sellers like the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester in addition to stylish new models from Hyundai and Kia.
